Spain: Generalized rise in the price of feed in 2020

The price of feed for livestock registered a general increase throughout 2020, in line with the increase also registered by raw materials. According to data published by the Ministry of Agriculture, the most important increases among the latter correspond to soybean meal and corn. The report of the Ministry on the evolution of the price of feed throughout the past year shows that the average price of soybeans in the last week of December was 465 euros per ton, that is, 128 euros higher than in the first week week of January, which represents an increase of more than 27%. In the case of corn, the rise was 14.15%, with which the price went from 182 euros / ton in the first week of the year to 212 euros in the last. For their part, wheat and barley rose less significantly. The rise in the case of wheat was 3.67% (it closed the year at 218 euros / ton) and in the case of barley 3.13% (192 euros / ton at the end of 2020).
