Germany's poultry meat production saw a 2.2% increase in the first quarter of 2024, totaling 386,340 tons, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office. This growth is attributed to heavier slaughter poultry, particularly turkeys, with their numbers rising by 3.5% to nearly 7.63 million. As a result, turkey meat production also surged by 7.0% to 105,425 tons. Although broiler chickens saw a modest 0.6% increase in slaughter numbers, the meat production rose by 0.9% to 276,730 tons, compensating for a 13.5% decrease in broth hens.
