The first Global Grape Convention, held on August 8 in Monticello, Chile, saw the table grape industries of Chile, Peru, and Mexico commit to increasing demand for table grapes in the U.S. market and promoting the creation of a World Table Grape Committee. Organized by the Table Grape Committee of Frutas de Chile, Provid, and Yentzen Group, the event emphasized the need for collaboration to address the growing supply and stagnant demand for table grapes. Key representatives and agricultural authorities discussed the importance of promotional campaigns to boost consumption, drawing on successful examples from other fruit industries. Additionally, Chile and Peru are working together on joint promotional activities to maintain quality, increase demand, and sustain good prices, ensuring the business remains viable and competitive.
