The global production of vegetable oils is expected to reach new highs in the 2022/23 marketing year, with a total production of 219.8 million tonnes, an increase of 8.3 million tonnes from the previous year. This production is expected to fully cover the anticipated demand of 213.6 million tonnes. Palm oil is the most widely produced vegetable oil, followed by soybean and rapeseed oil. Indonesia is the leading producer of palm oil, followed by Malaysia and Thailand. Soybean oil production is projected to reach a new high of 61.9 million tonnes, while rapeseed oil production is expected to increase to 31.5 million tonnes. Sunflower oil production is also expected to see a slight increase to 20.1 million tonnes, despite a global supply shortfall.
