Farmers in the Greek regions of Ilia and Achaia are increasing the cultivation of sweet potatoes, which account for 68% of the national production. The crop, rich in nutrients, is becoming more popular domestically and internationally, with exports to countries like Germany, Spain, and Cyprus. Despite high production costs, the crop yields well and is expected to sell for between 0.50 and 0.60 euros per kilogram, unless cheap imports from Egypt flood the market.
