The Ministry of Agriculture in Indonesia is encouraging farmers in Gunung Kidul Regency, DI Yogyakarta, to produce hybrid corn seeds on-site. The ministry has developed a new hybrid corn variety, RK-457, across 20 hectares in Ponjong District. The Head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Security of DI Yogyakarta Province, Sugeng Purwanto, appreciated the ministry's support and expressed hope that Gunung Kidul farmers would contribute to the availability of hybrid corn seeds. Tukiran, a local farmer, expressed his satisfaction with the new knowledge gained and the direct purchase of the hybrid corn seeds by partners. The Ministry of Agriculture provides assistance and support for hybrid corn seed production.
