(Suwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Chan-heung Choi = Gyeonggi Institute of Agricultural Technology announced on the 23rd that the "Agricultural and Forestry Satellite Image AI Analysis Technology Utilization Production Zone Decision System" jointly promoted with Yeoncheon County and Sae-Pam Co., Ltd. has been selected as a CES Innovation Award winner in anticipation of the world's largest information technology (IT) and consumer electronics exhibition, CES 2026, to be held in Las Vegas, USA, in January next year.
This system, which received the innovation award in the 'Sustainability' category, utilizes 0.7m high-resolution agricultural and forestry satellite images and AI analysis technology to measure crop growth status on a daily basis and detect abnormal signs early.
This year, the system was applied in the Yeoncheon region, improving analysis accuracy based on actual data from 168 Yeonjin rice farms and 52 Yeoncheon soybean farms.
Additionally, the KakaoTalk-based notification service helps farmers immediately confirm abnormal situations, while the automatic farming diary creation function and agricultural work history management function reduce the burden on farmers.
The growth change analysis and yield prediction functions are utilized for determining the optimal farming period and establishing farming plans.
Sung Je-hun, Director of the Gyeonggi Institute of Agricultural Technology, said, "It is significant that the satellite-based smart agriculture demonstration technology has been recognized for its innovation on the international stage" and "We will establish a Gyeonggi Smart Farming Management Platform by 2028 and further strengthen AI-based yield prediction technology."
