The Regulatory Council of the Designations of Origin ‘Condado de Huelva’, ‘Vinagre del Condado de Huelva’ and Geographical Indication ‘Vino Naranja del Condado de Huelva’ has detected the first signs of downy mildew in various plots of the Condado de Huelva vineyard, which has led to the activation of a surveillance protocol to curb its possible spread. The president of the Council, Vicente Pérez García de Prado, has called for prudence and constant attention in the field, emphasizing that “although this year the conditions are not as favorable for the fungus as in the past campaign, we cannot let our guard down at any moment.” The current campaign is marked by a lower presence of rainfall compared to 2025, which reduces the initial risk of downy mildew spreading.
