According to the Salta Tobacco Chamber, tobacco production in the province is an activity that brings together more than 25,000 families. Generations and generations of tobacco growers bet, every year, on this crop, making it one of the most important in the NOA. Last Sunday, during the siesta hours, a significant hailstorm descended upon the fields of Chicoana and El Carril, affecting the tobacco crops. This is the heart of the cultivation. “It rained stones without rain for more than 20 minutes. First, it was larger hail and then it reduced in size,” comment concerned producers from the area.
