Manual harvesting has started in Şanlıurfa, Turkey, which produces 30% of the country's cumin. Farmers are pleased with the high yield, achieving 3,500 tons from 50 thousand decares. Şanlıurfa's Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Mehmet Aksoy, credited the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) for improved irrigation and productivity. Farmer Mehmet Türk highlighted cumin's profitability over wheat and barley, with good rainfall boosting various crop yields. The high productivity is expected to benefit farmers and increase exports from Şanlıurfa.
