Harvest of watermelons in Adana, Turkey, which accounts for 20% of the country's production, has started two weeks late due to cold weather and agricultural frost. A total of 630-650 thousand tons of watermelon is expected from 95 thousand decares of plantation, with 70% under greenhouse. Adana Agriculture and Forestry Director Muhammet Ali Tekin assured that the watermelon supply to both the domestic and international markets will be maintained. The price per decare ranges from 3.5-4.5 liras, offering a potential good income for farmers.
