In two districts, which are important centers of paddy production in Turkey, the paddy sown in May on the lands on the plains of Gönen and Manyas is harvested by combine harvesters. Annually, 60 thousand tons of paddy and 30 thousand tons of rice are produced on 85 thousand decares of land in Gonen. In addition, 275 thousand tons of rice brought from many provinces of Turkey in 30 factories in Gonen is processed and offered for sale under the brand "Gönen".
