Bayer has submitted registration requests for the herbicide icafolin-methyl to the European Union, after concluding similar processes in Brazil, the United States, and Canada. With a launch scheduled starting from 2028, the product is expected to first reach the Brazilian market. The company anticipates that icafolin will generate around 750 million euros in global sales annually. According to the manufacturer, the new molecule represents the first novel mechanism of action in over 30 years for post-emergence weed control. Icafolin was developed for use in annual and perennial crops, such as soybeans, cereals, legumes, oilseeds, stone fruits and orchard fruits, nuts, grapes, and citrus fruits.
