HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) has been detected in two separate poultry farms, one commercial and one backyard, in Alabama, as confirmed by the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. The disease was first identified at a Michigan commercial poultry facility, marking the first case since May 2024 and the second since 2022. Authorities are emphasizing the importance of biosecurity measures and monitoring to prevent further spread. All poultry within a certain radius of the affected commercial site in Alabama will be tested and monitored.
