The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association (ICSA) is critical of a new trade deal between the EU and New Zealand, which allows for the duty-free import of 38,000t of sheepmeat from New Zealand. The ICSA argues that this deal will negatively impact Irish sheep farmers, who are already facing falling prices. However, the EU believes the agreement will create new opportunities for European farmers and food producers, while taking into account the interests of EU producers of sensitive agricultural products.
