Import quotas for Ukraine jump drastically - by 583% for honey and by 300% for eggs

The new trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine, crafted quietly in Brussels, came into effect on October 29, 2025, rather than at the beginning of the following year as expected by farmers in the member countries. The import quotas for Ukrainian goods have increased impressively compared to 2021 – for some goods like honey by almost 600%. Ukrainians are satisfied, but European farmers are not. The quotas, which were in effect before the outbreak of the war, have been significantly increased, farmer.pl comments. The agreement was supposed to be a return to pre-war principles in the first half of the year, but this is not the case in reality. It stipulates that Ukrainian legislation must be brought into line with EU regulations on pesticide residues and animal welfare within three years.
