In Ukraine, the price of imported tomatoes has seen a significant decrease of 18% this week, with current prices ranging between 70-80 UAH/kg ($1.79-2.04/kg). This reduction is primarily due to an oversupply of Turkish tomatoes and a notable slowdown in sales, prompting sellers to lower prices to avoid unsold inventory accumulation. The price drop, which is 20% less than in the first half of April 2023, is expected to continue into the following week as the market adjusts to the increased supply and reduced demand.

In Ukraine this week, the price of imported tomatoes has noticeably decreased, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. After the rise in price of these products a week earlier, the pace of sales of Turkish tomatoes decreased significantly, while supply, on the contrary, increased. Under the current conditions, sellers decided to reduce selling prices for imported tomatoes in order to prevent the accumulation of unsold products in the warehouses of wholesale companies. According to daily monitoring of the project, today greenhouse tomatoes produced in Turkey go on sale at 70-80 UAH/kg ($1.79-2.04/kg), which is on average 18% cheaper than a week earlier. As key market players note, prices in this segment have to be reduced for several reasons. Thus, the increase in the supply of imported products provokes a downward trend in the greenhouse tomato segment, while the pace of sales has slowed down significantly.
