In 2022, Russia's imports of fish products decreased by 31.3% compared to 2021, amounting to 387,000 tons with a value of over $1.819 billion. This decrease was due to a suspension of imports from 'unfriendly' countries, which was compensated by import substitution and new trade partnerships. The total import of salmon decreased due to a stoppage of supplies from the Faroe Islands, but domestic production of salmon and trout increased. There was an increase in deliveries of white fish fillets and hake, while imports of pelagic and seafood, including mackerel, capelin, herring, and shrimp, experienced a decline.
