The Chief Agricultural Officer of Chamwino District, Sadoti Makwaruzi, has urged smallholder farmers to increase the cultivation of white sorghum to meet the demand in both local and international markets. The World Food Program (WFP) requires 28,900 tonnes of the grain for foreign markets, having invested $25m, and the Cereals and Other Produced Board (CPB) is also purchasing 3,000 tonnes from farmers in Dodoma region for export and domestic consumption. The government has partnered with 20 companies to produce white sorghum seeds to support farmers.
