The US has seen a significant increase in imports of Vietnamese value-added and frozen pangasius products since the start of the year, with a 9.5 fold increase in April 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Pangasius fillets are the primary product imported, making up 98% of the total value of pangasius exports to the US. This surge is attributed to growing demand for white fish products in the US. Additionally, the potential recognition of Vietnam as a market economy by the US could further reduce anti-dumping duties on shrimp and pangasius, benefiting Vietnamese businesses.
