Italy's Official Gazette has announced emergency measures for managing the Asian bedbug (Halyomorpha halys), which is now established in the country and can no longer be eradicated. The measures include monitoring, contrast measures such as pheromone traps and chemical methods, and an appeal to regional phytosanitary services for maximum disclosure of control strategies. The gazette also allocates 30 million euros for the durum wheat supply chain from 2020 to 2022, 100 million for the fishing and aquaculture sector, and implements a community directive for the propagation of fruit plant reproduction materials and the prevention of certain pathologies. Additionally, the European Official Journal approves the use of ferric pyrophosphate and sets new maximum residue limits for chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos methyl.
