In January 2022, Uzbekistan imported 41 thousand tons of potatoes, marking a 2.3% decrease from the same period last year. However, imports are still significantly higher than in previous years, with a 68% increase from 2020 and 85% increase from January 2019. Pakistan was the largest supplier, contributing 51% of the total imports. The government's temporary ban on potato exports from Kazakhstan and a decrease in supply from Kyrgyzstan allowed other countries to increase their exports to Uzbekistan. Tax incentives for potato imports in Uzbekistan have been extended until April 2022.
