Livestock producers in the Cuyo and Patagonia region are facing challenges due to extreme snowfalls, which are affecting the stability of their production systems and leading to potential losses. The intensity of mortality for different animals is determined by factors like altitude, latitude, slope, orientation, and wind, with the main causes of death being suffocation, stress, ketosis, starvation, and hypothermia. INTA provides recommendations such as maintaining good animal condition, avoiding overgrazing, migrating to lower fields, having adequate forage reserves, and communicating well between establishments to mitigate these risks. The climate continues to show high interannual variability, with unpredictable climatic events like droughts, storms, and snowfalls.
