Western Europe is experiencing its highest average pear prices in at least seven seasons, with the Benelux countries seeing prices at a several-year high. The average price index of first- and second-class fruit has surpassed 1 euro per kilogram. The steady increase in prices since September, particularly in the 2022/23 season, pleases fruit growers, especially in Poland. The high prices are due to reduced pear production in Europe, particularly in Italy, and increased exports to eastern markets despite Belarusian embargo.
