India's whiteleg shrimp exports in September 2024 saw a decrease of 17% compared to the same month in 2023 and a decrease of 12% compared to August 2024, totaling 41,665 tons. The largest decrease was to China, with a 52% drop, and the US, the largest market, saw a 3% decrease. Despite these decreases, farmgate prices remained stable. The price of Indian FCA shell-on, head-off, tail-on (PDTO) shrimp was USD 7,414/mt on 19 November 2024. Despite the US Department of Commerce imposing an anti-subsidy duty of 5.77% on Indian shrimp exporters in October 2024, prices have rebounded in the second half of November 2024 due to supply constraints and increasing domestic demand. Overall, India's total whiteleg shrimp exports for the first 9 months of 2024 decreased by approximately 1% compared to the same period in 2023.
