Netherlands: Indicative price of 25 euros per 100 kilos for seed potatoes from the 2020 harvest at Agrico

Potato cooperative Agrico last week reported to members an average indication price for seed potatoes for the 2020 harvest of 25.00 euros per 100 kilos. The price is an average for all sizes and classes. Agrico will announce the final payment prices in July. The influence of Covid-19 on the sales of seed potatoes has been very large in the past year, Agrico reports. In many of the important declining countries, much of the infrastructure was lost and little financial resources were available. For some destinations, the limited availability of containers was a problem. Sales to early destinations, such as Pakistan and Bangladesh, were good. In contrast, sales to other parts of Asia and North Africa were very disappointing. Algeria, one of the largest buyers of Dutch seed potatoes, decided to impose a quota for a maximum of 50,000 tons of imported seed potatoes. The situation in Europe was strongly country dependent.
