Indonesia produced 2.4 million tons of white sugar in 2022 but consumed 3.4 million tons annually, resulting in an expected sugar import of less than 1 million tons for 2023, a decrease from the previous year. On the other hand, Ukraine's sugar production for the 2023/24 marketing year is projected to increase by 13%, reaching 1.5 million tons, primarily due to an expansion in sugar beet cultivation. The European Union is anticipated to become the largest market for Ukrainian sugar.
