The Indonesian Ministry of Trade is currently reviewing a request from the Indonesian Wheat Flour Producers Association (Aptindo) to remove import restrictions on fortifying premixes, as outlined in Minister of Trade Regulation No. 36 of 2023. Aptindo has expressed concerns over the reduced availability of these essential premixes due to the existing import regulations, which could potentially lead to a decrease in the national wheat flour supply. This situation threatens the flour industry's ability to maintain standards and ensure consumer protection. In response, the Ministry is working on revising the regulation to address this issue among other import-related concerns, following a coordination meeting at the Ministerial Level for Economic Affairs.
