Within the framework of actions for prevention and risk reduction of disasters, the Regional Government of Moquegua has been steadily intensifying the work of cleaning and dredging the bed of the Moquegua River, with the aim of minimizing risks in the event of a possible increase in flow during the rainy season. Preventive work is carried out in various sections of the lower valley, considered vulnerable areas, and is directly supervised by the Regional Management of Disaster Risk, which verifies the progress of the work, the correct intervention of the riverbed, and the application of technical criteria aimed at protecting the population, agricultural areas, and nearby infrastructure.
