The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Technology Institute in South Korea is investing 7.7 billion won to boost the production of beet and buckwheat, two local specialty crops, by 2025. The institute aims to increase the production value of beets from 800 million won to 10 billion won and buckwheat from 4.5 billion won to 12.5 billion won. The project will focus on developing variety selection, stable production technology, safety quality standards, post-harvest management, and processed products for beet. For buckwheat, the project will establish a domestic variety seed supply system, develop and distribute cultivation manuals, and improve processed products development and distribution conditions. This initiative is expected to increase farmers' income and create job opportunities in the agriculture and rural sectors.
