Jeonnam Rural Development Administration (RDA) (Director Kim Haeng-ran) announced on the 18th that they have selected organic agricultural materials that can effectively control citrus red mites occurring in mandarins harvested by combine harvesters and have established control technology that can be safely applied to combine harvesters. The citrus red mite continuously occurs up until the harvesting period, causing poor fruit coloration and quality deterioration. However, the use of general chemical pesticides in combine harvesters has been restricted due to concerns about pesticide residues, making it difficult for farmers to control them. To address this, the Jeonnam RDA Fruit Research Institute conducted field application tests with the aim of developing alternative control technologies using organic agricultural materials. The test results showed that after a single treatment with organic agricultural materials, control was achieved.
