The Jeonnam Marine and Fisheries Science Institute (Director Kim Chung-nam) announced that from April to September, 1.25 million superior aquatic seedlings of 8 species, including silverfish and gudgeon, were released into public waters in 16 cities and counties, including Suncheon City, to restore the inland ecosystem and enhance fishery resources. Jeonnam Province, which has the largest inland water area in the country, is seeing a gradual decline in ecosystem health due to recent impacts such as climate change, the spread of alien species, and water pollution. To this end, Jeonnam Province aims to restore native fish species in inland ecosystems and increase fishermen's income by annually releasing superior aquatic seedlings. During this release period, the first release of 270,000 silverfish began.
