Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has requested Japan to lower tariffs on commodities such as tuna, bananas, pineapples, and mangoes during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The two leaders also agreed to renew the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA), aiming to improve trade performance and investment, with the updated agreement set to be signed at the upcoming G20 Summit in Bali in November. Kishida acknowledged Indonesia as a strategic partner and expressed the intention to strengthen relations.
