“It is important to have a friendly nursery.” That is one of the most repeated pieces of advice among pecan producers, who for several years have had a wide portfolio of varieties to choose from. The key is to obtain a plant that truly behaves as promised, and that expresses itself correctly in the environment where it will be placed. One of the people who knows this path best is possibly Jorge Palacios from Tucumán, founder of Vivero Quebrada de Lules, who for more than two decades has been marketing pecan plants – originally brought into the country from the United States by Sarmiento – in various parts of the country and even already exports them. “Choosing the plant is a real marriage.
