The Junín Regional Government has announced plans to construct the Alumbracocha and Yanacocha dams in Tarma province's Huasahuasi district. The project, allocated a budget of 2'987,860 soles, aims to create job opportunities and boost economic income for approximately 3,000 male farmers who cultivate 2,000 hectares of land, primarily producing 47,000 tons of potatoes and potato seeds annually. The initiative is expected to modernize irrigation systems in the district, potentially revitalizing the agricultural sector and enhancing the production of over 300 potato seed varieties.
