Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture: Cotton production reaches an 18-year high

In his speech, the Minister of Agriculture stated that by 2025, the total potato production will reach 2.9 million tons, and the cotton production will be approximately 430,000 tons. This is the best harvest record in nearly 18 years. We achieved this due to the shift from traditional irrigation methods to drip irrigation. By 2025, the area of cotton planted with drip irrigation will reach 50,000 hectares for the first time. At the same time, the average cotton yield per hectare increased by 30 dan/hectare, with some farms even increasing by 60 dan/hectare, he said. According to him, the yield of leguminous crops also reached a historical high, exceeding 1.1 million tons. Among them, lentils were 842,000 tons, broad beans 222,000 tons, and chickpeas 22,000 tons. In addition, oilseed production reached 4.8 million tons. We will continue to carry out diversified development work according to the instructions of the head of state. This will help us to reasonably arrange crop rotation, maintain soil fertility, and reduce the risks faced by farmers, said Saparov.
