The European Union is set to remove trade barriers for Kazakh agricultural products such as meat, dairy, and honey, following a bilateral meeting between Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski at the 'Interfood Astana' exhibition. They agreed to hold technical discussions to facilitate this market opening. Kazakhstan, which already exports wheat, flax seeds, and rapeseed to the EU, aims to boost its agricultural exports via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Currently, only fish from Kazakhstan's livestock products is exported to the EU. The Ministry of Agriculture is also targeting honey and horse meat exports. The EU business mission's visit to Kazakhstan, featuring 40 companies, is historic, and EU investments in Kazakhstan rose by 23% to $12.5 billion in 2023.
