Scientific organizations of Kazakhstan have found that the commercial population of roach in the Caspian Sea and the Kigach River has reached its lowest levels, leading to a prediction of a 30% reduction in the catch limit for 2025-2026. The Ministry of Agriculture recommends preventive measures to preserve the population, as roach plays a crucial role in the ecosystem and fishing industry. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has also banned fishing for roach in the Caspian Sea, the Volga River, and its watercourses within the Astrakhan Region and the Republic of Kalmykia until December 31, 2025.
