Kazakhstan's agricultural sector experienced a positive growth in 2020, with a 5.6% increase in gross agricultural production that reached 6.3 trillion tenge (US$15 billion). This growth was primarily driven by a 7.8% increase in crop production. The country also saw a 3% increase in gross livestock production and a 15% increase in agricultural investments, amounting to US$1.1 billion. Additionally, food production increased by 13.5%. The government is focusing on creating ecosystems for crop production and agricultural processing, and has plans to develop production lines for bioethanol, sugar, and oilseeds. Despite pandemic restrictions, over 20.8 million tons of grain were collected in 2020, and the country has expanded its list of enterprises in foreign supplier registers, exporting a variety of products to several countries.
