The Agricultural Research and Development Agency in Indonesia has developed a new variety of dragon fruit called Naga Hilosia. The development of this variety has been ongoing since 2011 and involved the collection and selection of dragon fruit genetic resources. The new variety has the advantage of large fruit size, high production, and does not require pollination assistance. The Hilosia dragon variety is expected to have a high crop production per hectare per year, reaching 43.90–45.60 tons. The variety has been registered as a new superior variety and is currently being developed in West Sumatra, especially in Solok Regency.
