Kırklareli Agriculture and Forestry Director Mehmet Aksoy announced the opening of a course to train truffle collectors, citing the high economic potential of the mushroom. Truffles, which can sell for up to 800 euros per kilogram, are currently collected by specially trained individuals and exported to countries such as Saudi Arabia, England, and France. Ziyafet Arslan, a former physical therapist who gave up his previous career to become a full-time truffle collector, explained the demanding nature of the job and the varying yields. The demand for truffles, particularly due to their unique aroma, exceeds the current supply, indicating a potentially lucrative opportunity for those who complete the course.
