The first quarter of 2023 saw a decrease in the import of frozen mackerel and fresh salmon by 30% and 45% respectively, compared to the same period in the previous year. However, there was a significant increase in the import of processed frozen mackerel fillets and fresh salmon fillets by 5.3% and 216% respectively. The total number of imported fish products also increased to 29 types in Q1 2023, up from 19 in 2022. The average price per unit of frozen mackerel and fresh salmon fillets decreased by 11% and 63% respectively, while the price of fresh salmon increased by 73% compared to the previous year. The total value of imported fish products from Norway in Q1 2023 was USD 246.89 million, a 34% increase from 2022, with an average import unit price of USD 8.92/kg.
