From 2014 to 2024, the area of pumpkin cultivation in Poland increased from 1.1 thousand hectares to 9.3 thousand hectares, according to the National Agricultural Support Center (KOWR). Since 2020, our country has been the largest producer of these orange orbs in the European Union. Our country's share of the total pumpkin harvest in the EU in 2024 was 33 percent. "Besides Poland, significant EU pumpkin producers were also: France (235 thousand tons, 20 percent share in EU production), Spain (172 thousand tons, 15 percent), Germany (114 thousand tons, 10 percent), and Portugal (92 thousand tons, 8 percent). The share of the first five leading pumpkin producers in 2024 accounted for 86 percent of the entire EU production," KOWR calculates on its portal.
