Pig farmers have experienced good marketing conditions due to adjusted availability of live hogs, leading to a significant increase in the average price compared to the same period last year and the historical average. According to SuiSite, the average daily price evolved by 18.1% in the first fortnight, surpassing the increases of the previous year and the past 13 years. Despite a slight weakening in retail trade, the market is expected to maintain prices, partly due to the end of the Carnival holiday, which often disrupts normal business operations.
