In January, Vietnam saw a significant increase in seafood exports to China, with lobster exports alone reaching 70 million USD, a nine-fold increase from the same period in 2024, and contributing to nearly half of the total export turnover to China. This surge in lobster exports led to a 24% increase in shrimp exports, resulting in a total seafood export turnover of 774 million USD, a 3% increase from the same period in 2024. In addition to lobsters, crab exports to China also saw a sharp increase, reaching 18.5 million USD, up 18 times compared to the same period last year. Imports of fresh seafood such as clams and snails by China also increased, serving the high-end segment during the Lunar New Year.
