The comment was made at the Friday (02) meeting of the Cassava Industries Union of Paraná (SIMP) by the former president of the entity, Guido Bankhardt. According to him, this situation is still a result of the climatic phenomena of last year and of plagues this year: three frosts and then the drought. The hope of the producers was that, as of this second semester, there would be an improvement, which ended up not happening. “New cassava, in some cases, is even worse, with low quality and low starch content”, says Bankhardt, who is also director of the Brazilian Association of Cassava Starch Producers (ABAM).
