The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment in Indonesia has announced that China's durian fruit imports are valued between US$ 7-8 billion annually. Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that this could generate up to IDR 1.5 trillion in income for durian-producing districts in Indonesia, potentially leading to economic equality. This potential was discussed during Pandjaitan's recent visit to China. He stressed the importance of producing high-quality durian for export, a process that can take up to four years, and mentioned that 100 hectares of durian plantation have been established in several locations in Indonesia.
