Malaysia's palm oil inventories are predicted to have dropped to their lowest in four months in December, according to a Reuters survey, due to a decrease in production and exports. Stockpiles are estimated to have fallen 5.3% from November to 2.17 million tonnes. Production saw a 3% decline to 1.63 million tonnes, and exports also fell 1% to 1.5 million tonnes, with a decrease in shipments to China. Demand from China is expected to gradually recover this year, but the surge in Covid-19 infections in the country raises doubts. Indonesia's decision to limit export volumes and increase domestic use of palm oil as biofuels will further tighten global supplies. The Malaysian Palm Oil Board will release its data on the situation on January 10.
