In the first half of the year, the price of pepper in Vietnam nearly doubled, reaching 153,000 VND per kg, and export prices increased by $1,000 per ton. Pepper exports earned over 634 million USD, with the US being the largest market. The early harvest and high quality of Vietnamese pepper have led to increased demand, which, along with the impact of El Nino, has caused a supply-demand gap and a significant price increase. Despite the high prices, Vietnamese pepper continues to be in high demand. The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association predicts that pepper prices will continue to increase and that the global pepper market will grow by an average of 20% from 2024-2032.
