The Director General of Horticulture in Indonesia has identified Mas Kirana bananas as a commodity with potential in both the domestic and export markets. These bananas, which are favored for their size, taste, and bright yellow color, are currently grown in three sub-districts in Lumajang Regency. The Regency is taking steps to improve welfare and innovation in banana cultivation, including shifting from chemical to organic fertilizers and working with universities and R&D institutions. There is high demand for these bananas due to their organic cultivation system, and efforts are being made to obtain Global GAP certification and Geographical Indications for Mas bananas as a product of Lumajang.
